About Us

PC LearnHow is owned and operated in Lawrence Kansas by Amy Barnes.

Amy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Kansas University—that’s the Jayhawks, home of the 2008 National Champion Men’s Basketball team, the 2008 Orange Bowl Champion Football team and the 2009 National Champion College Debate team.

Amy has a wide range of professional experiences.

Training

Amy taught computer classes to senior citizens at the local senior services center for nearly 12 years. Amy and a colleague taught computer classes to State of Kansas employees and to Sallie Mae employees. For the past 15 years, Amy has been offering one-on-one computer training to small businesses and to individuals in their homes.

Database

Most recently, she is developing custom Access databases for the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence and The city of Topeka. Before that, she took on a year-long project creating a complex database for a local construction company in Lawrence. Amy created and donated a database to manage class enrollment at the senior services center. She has created several other databases for local businesses.

Amy’s sanity is tested daily by her three teenage daughters, although things are settling down a bit now that the oldest is at college. Raising three girls has allowed Amy and her husband of 22 years to build character—well, the girls are characters, but we’re talking about Amy and her husband’s character.

For recreation and relaxation when there’s time, Amy enjoys making her daughters watch old movies which they groan about beforehand, but admit afterward that it wasn’t so bad. She also likes to fiddle around with origami. In fact, the house is littered with lots of paper roses, paper boxes, dollar bill dachshunds and other examples of her hobby.

Amy’s favorite time, though, is staying home with her daughters and husband playing a game or watching movies everyone wants to see.
